Our Energy Audit

Although we will replace light bulbs and add weatherstripping, our energy audit goes much deeper than any other. We understand that a home works as a system, with no single part working on its own. We call this a Whole-House approach to energy savings.

Climate Partners, the Connecticut Dr. Energy Saver, will send out a Doctor and an EMT (Energy Management Technician) to perform our Home Energy Checkup™, diagnosing your home's energy systems. Our complete and thorough 90-point, home energy audit includes:

  • Thermal Scanning - We use thermographic imagery to measure the effectiveness of your home's insulation, without having to even see the insulation. We use an infra-red camera that provides a picture that reveals temperature differences of a wall, ceiling, or other area by color changes.
  • HVAC Inspection - We check for oversized heating and cooling system, efficiency of the ductwork, and many other factors associated with your HVAC system.
  • Blower Door (Infiltrometer) Test - To get a complete picture of your home leaks conditioned air and wastes energy, we use an “infiltrometer” or blower door fan. This blower door fan is placed in the main entry doorway to depressurize the house, sucking out air from the interior and causing outside air to be drawn into the house through all leakage points. As the fan is running a technician goes from room to room to detect and diagnose air leaks.
  • Appliance and Lighting Checks - We'll teach you how to read Energy Guide labels on appliances, and exactly how much you will save by replacing incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs.
